| Started as Aircraft Draughtsman at FGME. Transfered to LM on purchase of MED by Singer. Worked on Camera/Visual model drives, Tank Motion System, Hydraulics. In 1985 I took control of the Medusa Mech. CAD system growing it from 2 seats on a MicrovaxII to 12 seats on Sun 10s. Too many system administrators at Crawley so I reverted to Mech Design. Following Diagnosis as suffering from Parkinsons Disorder I retired on health grounds in 1998 |

On retirement, I went contracting for 8 months but my health rendered me unfit. I took a part time job at West Hove Golf Club as Course Ranger but was unable to get to the club when DVLA declined to renew my Driving License on Medical grounds.
As a member of the former Shoreham Airport Historical Association, I have just finished a book on the careers of former apprentices at F.G. Miles Ltd at Shoreham Airport. I am now widening the scope to include apprentices that started in the Miles Group of companies. I have been married to Janet for 45 years, and I have 2 sons and two grandsons,
David 42 is a contract Technical Project Manager on large computer installations and has worked for all the major computer companies except HP. He has two sons James (12), and Cameron (6)
Jon 37 was a tree Surgeon when he was younger (Climbing trees is a young man's game) and has now expanded into landscaping, fencing and Decking (see his website at Arbworx.com)
I used to play golf at West Hove Golf Club, and played badminton with the over 55s group at Southwick eisure centre until June 2008
I was a member of the Shoreham Airport Historical Association until it was dissolved in Augst 2008 |
